Fire Destroys Floresville Historic Home on Goliad Road
A frame house over 100 years old on Goliad Road in Floresville burned early Monday with arson suspected. Firefighters arrived around 1:30 a.m. but the structure could not be saved. Arson investigators remained at the scene as of press time. The home belonged to Sarah Jimenez’s grandfather and the family hoped to donate it to the Historical Society. A nearby family home burned about three months earlier, also under arson suspicion.

Ranch to Rail Field Day Announced by County Agent
Ranchers in South Texas will see how cattle stack up in the market at a spring Ranch to Rail field day May 14 near Corpus Christi at a Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center on Highway 44 east of Robstown. Reservations at 512-265-9203. The program aims for about three pounds daily gain at under 48 cents per pound with feed conversion of 5.5 to 6 pounds gain per pound feed.
