Floresville Educator Seals Long Career in Education
S. W. Seale resigns after a 50 year teaching career, citing health. He served as Floresville Consolidated School District superintendent and held prior posts in Gonzales, Midland, and San Antonio area schools. Seale earned a BA from Southwest Texas State College in 1927 and an MA from the University of Texas in 1936. His resignation takes effect June 30, 1965, with two years left on his contract.

Local FFA Land Judging Team Places Thirteenth
The Floresville FFA land judging team placed 13th of 64 teams at the National Land Judging Contest in Oklahoma City held April 28 29. Members David Pfeil Marvin Roemer Harold Heimer and Jimmy Mutz with Advisor Allan J Drozd reported a valuable education and praised the team effort. The contest drew top teams from 32 states with Washington Township Indiana taking first and Indiana Rochester second.

Wilson County Launches Nation’s First Wheat Load for 1965
Wilson County produced the first U S wheat of 1965 with Casares Grain Co of Poth shipping the initial load to Houston. The No 2 grade Seabreeze wheat weighed about 58 pounds per bushel and sold for 1584 per bushel. The 1965 shipment came from farms of Harvey Rebfeld John J Maha and Bem Gorzell in Path area. Previous first loads in 1963 and 1964 went to Pioneer Flour Mills and Floresville Grain Co respectively. Wheat plantings cover 8 000 to 10 000 acres in the county, a money crop only recently developed.
