Cold rain did not deter crowds at Floresville downtown events featuring music food arts and crafts. The Wilson County Jailhouse Museum opened while visiting car clubs traced paths through town. Organizers expect stronger turnout next year with better weather.
Floresville students from ages six to 66 under instructor Mary Jane Donaho will display water color pastel pen and ink and acrylic works in the Floresville lobby of The Bank of South Texas from May 9 to May 14. Subjects include landscapes still life animals and abstracts. Bank president James L. Eakin says the community gains a chance to view local creativity.
Sacred Heart School will hold registration on May 4 and 5 for students in 3K through 6th grade, with four year olds’ class full. Registration hours are 8:30 11:30 a.m. and 12 noon 3:30 p.m. Call 393 2117 for details. Accredited by TCCED and TEA, the school welcomes students regardless of race color creed national or ethnic origin.
Two juveniles were arrested after a break in at Smokey's Ice House on Hwy 181. Officers found hiding backpacks with cigarettes and groceries. the pair had been away from home and school for a day and a night. They were held at Wilson County Jail then transferred to Medina and Atascosa County facilities for a May hearing.
Bath High School announces the Chas. H. Warnken Memorial Scholarships worth 2500 each for the thirteenth year. Applicants must write a letter, submit certified SAT scores, and include a phone number. Send to Mrs. Catherine W. Bertrand, P.O. Box 275, Path, Texas 78147, by May 20.
Wilson County Grand Jury charged Ramona Lopez with first degree murder for the January 17 1993 shooting death of her husband in Floresville. Arraignment set for May 24 1994 after the January 28 1993 Floresville Chronicle Journal report of the domestic disturbance and fatal shooting on Estrada Road. Fire at a mobile home followed, with arson suspected and state agencies assisting.

The Sutherland Springs School Reunion will be held on Saturday May 14 at the Community Building in Sutherland Springs. The building opens at 10:00 a.m. Former students and teachers are invited. Guests should bring a cow utensils and drinks will be furnished.
