Bike-A-Thon Success Draws Bikers and Hikers for Cancer
The Bike-A-Thon on Sunday April 24 drew 85 bikers and 16 hikers to raise funds for cancer. Sponsors were urged to submit money by May 9 to Woolsey-Bell Insurance in Floresville. Crusade chairman Cap Vajdos and many volunteers expressed gratitude for community support and listed numerous local sponsors and helpers.

County funds come up short in Wilson County audit
A Wilson County employee was warned with pay for a week as a sheriff's department fund shortfall emerged. Auditor found over $4,000 unaccounted. Sheriff M H Baumann said no charges have been filed and the investigation continues.

Arts And Crafts May Fair Moves To Library Lawn This Year
The sixth annual Arts and Crafts League Mayfair is set for Friday May 6 and Saturday May 7 with judging tasks due by 9:00 a.m. Friday and a 9 a.m. food division deadline. The event runs from dawn to dark both days featuring handmade items, booths, and a Mother’s Day gift focus with a drawing. The location has moved from the courthouse to the library lawn for beautification work.

Clarice Ann Bludau was chosen as Peanut Festival 1983 Queen elect by the Floresville Peanut Festival Association. She is the daughter of Clarence C. Bludau and his wife. The court includes Beverly Stadler Leann Polasek Ann Elizabeth Eschenburg and Kim Bienek. Coronation set for Thursday October 6 1983 at Wiley Seale Auditorium Floresville High School.
