Mendlovitz Rites Held Sunday for Seguin Merchant
Funeral services for George Mendlovitz aged 53 who died at his Seguin home Friday were conducted Sunday by Rabbi David Tamarkin. He settled in Floresville in 1968 then Seguin in 1916 as a retail merchant. Surviving are widow Sadie Mendlovitz a son Lt. Max A. Mendlovitz USNR of Laredo and two daughters Mrs Eddie Klein and Helen Ann Mendlovitz both of Seguin. He came to Floresville in 1908 with his uncle John Mendlovitz and they once owned the New York Store in Floresville, exclusive dry goods dealers. Page 8.

An Associated Press report credits Lt. Woodrow W. Anderson of Stockdale with destroying one German plane in the air and two on the ground while escorting U S bombers into France. Eighteen Nazi planes were shot down and five ground destroyed as his fighter group lost four planes. Anderson is brother of Mrs Joe Donaho of Floresville and son of Mr and Mrs J H Anderson of Stockdale, with his father serving as Southern Pacific station agent. He has received the Distinguished Flying Cross and other decorations.

Death of Arminta Bell Pioneer of Wilson County
Arminta Jane Bell died at 104 at Stockdale home of daughter-in-law Mrs. M C Shaw. Services were at Stockdale Methodist Church where she was a charter member for 78 years. Born August 12 1839 in Arkansas, she endured frontier hardships, married Benjamin Shaw in 1861, later widowed, with son M C Shaw. She later wed David Nelson and Rufus Bell, living in Stockdale for 75 years. Burial followed in Stockdale cemetery.
