Floresville city council approves waiving past defaults for the River Bend project and reestablishing Reinvestment Zone One to enable a $14 million loan from First National of America. The refinancing will finish road and Lift Station repairs, build a golf clubhouse, and launch two new phases with homes ranging from about 95 000 to 250 000 dollars. The plan promises city credit free improvements totaling 6.5 million dollars and aims to complete the golf course by year end while marketing River Bend to attract outside builders and sell nearly 900 lots.
A Floresville vigil followed by a council meeting clash over not dedicating a Little League field. Trevino family members and friends sang Peace is Flowing Like a River after the session. They blame three council members for hurting the Trevino memory by refusing to name the major league field at Riverfront Park after Annie Maria Trevino. Gloria Ximenez and Paulin Trevino attended to show support.
Floresville fifth graders Alexandria Butts Giordi Carillo Krysta Ortiz Sydney Ross and William Weller form the Geometry Structure Team that won second at the state meet and will compete May 24 28 in Ames Iowa against international teams. Coaches Brandon Johns Lori Sears guide students who design and build a balsa wood structure under 15 grams demonstrating hands on problem solving.
