Mr and Mrs Charles Freeman Jr were named the Farmers Home Administration Texas Farm Family of the Year at a Floresville school cafeteria ceremony. The Freemans were chosen from 200 state nominees, with plaques presented by Wilson County groups and U S Rep Abraham Kazen. James V Smith praised FHA loans and rural progress as the Freeman family operates 124 acres with irrigated peanuts and cattle, while their four children attended.

Nixon visit honors Floresville with Nixon family stay
Floresville marked a weekend April 29 and 30 as President and Mrs. Nixon visited. They stayed at the Connally ranch where long hours of planning supported communications. Spring Band Concert and Barbecue Chicken Supper

A screen was slashed in two places and a window pane broken at the home of Mrs. Joe Hy Fietsam last week. Police suggested forced entry was the motive as the Wilson County Sheriff's office investigated the incident.

Nixon Visits Picosa Ranch on Texas Trip
President Nixon and Mrs. Nixon arrived at Randolph AFB on Sunday April 30 1972 and visited the Picosa Ranch near Floresville Texas meeting Treasury Secretary John Connally and touring the grounds. A barbecue and festivities followed as locals and Texas officials welcomed the presidential party before returning to Randolph AFB for the trip back to Washington.
