Floresville area volunteers organize a May 7 door to door cancer drive. Captains and helpers will inform residents about the Seven Danger Signals and seek contributions to fund a nationwide effort to eradicate cancer.
Mike Lopez Jr takes over Mobil Service Station on Highway 181 and hosts an open house from Saturday May 4 through Saturday May 11. Free balloons lollypops and cokes for customers plus a Free MOBIL Key with each fuel-up.
Floresville’s Future Farmers of America chapter, backed by City Council officials and local veterinarians led a two day rabies vaccination program on April 21 and 28. Dr J O Bramlow donated proceeds to the FFA chapter.
The Floresville Chamber of Commerce float took second in its division at the Flambeau Parade during the San Antonio Fiesta. The green gold white design featured tall back columns with a large golden peanut. Miss Karen Sue Russell, 1962 Peanut Festival Queen, sat on the float with attendants Cindy Miller Ann Lackness and Dick Ullmann.

The Casares Grain Co of Poth delivered Wilson County’s first 1963 wheat load to Pioneer Flour Mills in San Antonio. The 800 bushel shipment had 12.5 percent moisture, No. 1 grade, 60 pounds per bushel, and 13.13 percent protein. A $50 bonus and $2.35 per bushel premium were paid, above market and loan prices. Growers named include Gorzells of Kosciuske, Novak of Black Hill, Kopecki of San Antonio, Johns of Floresville, Stahtlot of Stockdale, and Devora and May of Poth.
Roy Smith of Houston told San Antonio dairy leaders at the 7th annual Milk Producers Association meeting that selling has become the main challenge as production rises while herd numbers fall. He heads the South Texas Producers Assn and is president of the Texas Milk Producers Federation, outlining the industry's pressure in Texas.
The 4th annual Polish American pilgrimage to Czestochowa in San Antonio will start May 5 from St Catherine's Chapel Hicks and Hallie with a 7:00 pm opening. Bishop Stephen Leven will preside two sermons in English and Polish by Rev Henry Moczygemba and Rev Wojciechowski. The event aims to pray for world peace Poland's deliverance from communism and Russia's conversion. A colorful procession and Falls City band are planned with banners including a cross for every nation under Communist rule. Rev Julius Dworaczyk invites all clergy and laity to participate.
Floresville Band Parents Club presents the annual May Fete at Tiger Field tonight May 3 at 7 30. Miss Janette Flieller daughter of Mr and Mrs E A Flieller will be crowned Queen of the Court of May prole. All grades and school organizations will provide musical entertainment and student ticket sales are 26 cents for students and adults.
Floresville Chamber of Commerce held its annual meeting on Monday night April 29 1967 at Sacred Heart Recreation Hall. The event drew about 150 attendees including new members and spouses. The program featured signs promoting Floresville as a warming center plus a display of local crops and incomes in Wilson County. Speakers included Mr Q Raker who urged town unity and a planned study program for community growth.
