Growers Vote To Restrict Peanut Crops
Growers across 14 states ratified an AAA plan to limit edible peanut acreage. In a Saturday referendum 67,811 voted for allotments while 8,259 opposed, well above the two thirds required. The plan imposes a 3 cent per pound tax on edible peanuts produced on restricted acreage. peanuts for crushing into oil are exempt. Alabama Georgia and North Carolina led in support. Arkansas opposed.

Death of E W Herrington shocks San Antonio family
