William J. Billy Joe Kellner has been named to Jaycees International Senators, the highest honor for a Jaycee. He accepted at the Region 314 Forum in Floresville, thanking supporters and pledging continued activity despite his exhausted status. Kellner joined Floresville Jaycees in November 1965 and follows the only other Floresville senator, Delbert Traeger.

Austin Comptroller Bob Bullock issued 16.1 million in checks in April, the first monthly payment of city sales taxes replacing quarterly rebates. The shift ends a 1968 system with 60 to 90 day delays, disbursing funds to 500 plus towns and cities for taxes collected between February 18 and April 4.
