A Democratic organization launches a campaign in Texas to raise a total of 750000 dollars by inviting every party member to contribute a dime. State leaders present a plan they say appeals broadly to supporters of all parties. Texas asked for liberal contributions to address the national deficit.
The Texas Democratic organization led by Roy Miller and Frank Scofield aims to raise 75000 dollars as ten percent of the national party deficit. Wilson County votes total 2438, setting a per vote quota of ten cents. The drive ties to a Lenten church program announced by Rev. C. W. Solomon inviting town and area residents to participate.
Rev. M. Keller and wife depart Poth after four and a half years serving St. John’s Lutheran churches of Poth and Denhawken. His farewell sermon on March 26 urged faithfulness. a social hour followed. The couple relocate to Robstown and Alice, where he will pastor Lutheran churches. Also reports on Senate Agriculture Committee endorsement of a refined farm relief plan by Texas Commissioner J B McDonald, arguing for market-based prices and safeguards for nonperishables.

Edwin Johnson and family motored to Crystal City Sunday accompanied by Mrs. Tom Johnson and children who remained there. Mr Johnson has recently accepted a position there.
Last day of census collection is Friday March 81 with Seale and Supt. S. P. Conn asking households with unvisited homes or school age children not yet enrolled to contact them today. The notice stresses vital importance and urges cooperation.
Washington March 28 Reopening of the nation s banks continues at about 100 a day. Approximately three quarters of the country s banks have resumed operations on a 100 percent basis under Federal and local authorities with safeguards and inspections continuing to guide the process.
McDonald backs an amended farm relief plan aiming to ease prices and support industrial levels. A new approach seeks workable, practical steps in the policy proposal.
Washington March 29 The senate agricultural committee voted to report the farm relief measure favorably leaving nine basic commodities in the bill Wheat cotton corn oats cattle sheep hogs rice and dairy products were kept despite opposition attempts to remove them Administrations forces won two key test votes indicating strong support for the plan

The Chronicle Journal reports the death of Gratz B Gouger a former stockdale drug businessman and banker who died at 947 East Cincinnati Avenue in San Antonio. He was a San Antonio Mason and Knights Templar officer with deep Wilson county ties and surviving widow daughter sons sister and brother. He lived in Texas 59 years and resided in San Antonio since 1911 with former Stockdale residence and continued business interests in Wilson county.
Concrete pouring started on Highway 123 at Stockdale Texas with work moving north toward the Wilson County line. Machinery is unloaded and 950 men have registered for work, per J R Kidwell secretary of the Chamber of Commerce.
Stockdale boys travel to Kingsville for the third annual Smith Hughes Vocational judging event. Four teams will compete in live stock and dairy and poultry husbandry, farm shop, entomology, terracing soil conservation, and plant production with one alternate per team.
Members of the party are treated as one happy family on train. Davis L. Key, a well known young man in this city, has assumed full management of the Gulf Service Station at 4th and C Streets after Herbert Billimek was transferred to Alice. Key will supervise the station, install a new greasing rack, and make improvements this week as he takes the helm. Billimek leaves many friends here who wish him well at Alice.

Monroe Laake, formerly of Poth and son of Mrs. Jane Laake, now residing in Monroe Laake holds the early tarpon record for Brownsville waters. Nueces County Sheriff James W. Galbreath aged 60, a noted Southwest Texas peace officer, died Wednesday afternoon at his son Ira J. Galbreath’s home in San Antonio after a heart attack following a visit. He previously served as Robstown city marshal and was elected sheriff.
