Registration for Little League Babe Ruth and Girls Softball is set for Thursday March 30 at the old Jr High Gym from 4 00 to 7 30 p m. Bring a birth certificate and 3 00 with 2 00 allocated to insurance and 1 00 as the registration fee.
Floresville Jaycees hosted the inaugural Merchants Appreciation Night at Jaycee Hall on March 2. About 69 of 303 invited merchants and spouses attended the barbecue event to honor local business owners for choosing Floresville and aiding its development.

Tomas Dominguez, 27, of Floresville, was shot in the abdomen during a holdup by five men who took his wallet. He was found se rey at the rear of a building in the 4700 block of Hackberry and remained in poor condition Monday at Bexar County Hospital. The incident occurred Sunday in San Antonio.
Wilson County Easter Seal Representative reports the 1972 Easter Seal Appeal is progressing. Treasurer Harry Woolsey notes funds will finance rehabilitation for crippled children and adults in Texas. Last year the society aided over 22 000 disabled persons and families, with the appeal ending Easter Sunday April 2.
Wilson County Conservation Homemaker of Rt 3 Floresville has been selected as the 1972 Wilson County Conservation Homemaker. Mrs Barnes received a plaque at the Floresville Lions Club noon meeting on March 23. Mr and Mrs Barnes have two sons five grandchildren and 32 years of marriage. She is active in church work member of Labatt Home Demonstration Club THDA Chairman Peanut Festival Board Wilson County Family Living Committee 4-H Advisor and co chair of the Wilson County Baked Foods Show. She also gardens grows fruits and vegetables and makes preserves.
Voters in the Ecleto Creek Watershed District will elect four directors on Tuesday April 4 1972. The polling place is the Clarence Schendel residence about three miles north of Runge. All landowners are urged to vote.
The PTA meeting is rescheduled for Monday April 10. The program features a 6th grade puppet show and discussion of projects for the Peanut Festival. The Barnes family are noted for soil conservation efforts and Mrs Barnes placed 3rd in Region III judging and will be honored May 16 1972 in Floresville. She emphasizes conservation benefits for future generations and community well being.
A representative of the Rural Manpower Service Texas Employment Commission will be in Floresville every Thursday morning from 9:30 to 12:00. At the County Courthouse in the Commissioners or District Courtrooms, the TEC rep will answer questions about services and take job applications. Employers seeking workers and job seekers are urged to contact the TEC rep, Floresville Lions Chub Johnny Kosub and Mrs Reed. Kosub received a plaque for Outstanding Conservation Farmer of the Year.
In 1969 Kosub rebuilt his home and now farms 253 acres with 250 acres of leased cropland. He grows grain sorghum and flax, reinvests income to improve the home place, and practices conservation by returning crop residue and fertilizing. He plans a 100 head cow herd with rotation grazing and grass management, while his family participates in church and 4H. Kosub surpasses county averages and is recognized for advancing conservation farming and ranching in Wilkinson County.
The Floresville Barracks and Ladies Auxiliary will hold their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday April 4 at 2 p.m. at the American Legion Hall. Refreshments will be served afterward. Plan to be there, Emil Lohse Q.M.
A Wilson County conservation profile highlights Leroy Kirchoff, farmer of 144 cultivated acres plus 6 native pasture, who endured drought and erosion. He adopted terraces, terraced waterways, and rotation with clover in 32 acres, yielding 4200 pounds per acre sorghum in 1970. His family and community work, 4H leadership, and soil conservation efforts earned him Comeback Farmer of the Year.
Floresville City Hall will close at 12 00 noon on Friday after noon March 31 in observation of Good Friday.
