An enthusiastic Democratic gathering was held Tuesday evening at the courthouse. Attendees praised a key leader and pledged continued efforts for the party, with remarks thanking supporters and noting ongoing service to the organization.
Mrs Seale longtime Floresville resident moved to San Antonio last week. Saturday afternoon peers from the Zeek Memorial class of the Methodist church hosted an informal party at Mrs E Whitsett home. About 25 guests attended and daughters Mrs John Powell and Mary accompanied her. The class presented a hydrangea bouquet to show appreciation for her character. Light refreshments and Easter candies were served.
Crutchfield was elected president of Floresville Chamber of Commerce for the ensuing year at a special meeting Wednesday. Donato was chosen vice president and Bert Lohn secretary treasurer. Twelve directors will be installed at a future general meeting, including F D Peres Jr, John V Donaho, Le Spaniel, Henry Bal Mant, Connally Joe, Delbert Cox, and Edgar Phi ers.
A Fairview School gathering notes Sgt. Roy Maase praising the Fairview post as 139 district posts battle hours. Ten new volunteers bring total to forty, eligible for Observer Wings after 21 hours. List of wing recipients includes T. R. A. Popham, Jack L. Bruce, Mrs. Fred Shiver, Mrs. Carl Ray, Mrs. Elijah Grimes, Mrs. Travis I Longsey, and many others.
District tennis meet slated for Nixon on Tuesday Apr 3 with teams from area schools contesting matches. Officials confirm schedule and venue as the Nixon courts, with weather and time details released by the athletic department.
The band earned top honors at the district meet with a clarinet quartet led by Mary Jo Johnson and Jo Ann Ferguson receiving first and second division honors. Other ensembles included a saxophone octet and a trumpet trio with members Kellner, Maceil, and Schneider earning multiple placements.

Floresville voters will elect two aldermen on Tuesday April 3 1956 at the regular city election held at city hall polling places open from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Only two names appear on the official ballot E A Fueller and H W Fulleman seeking reelection.
Floresville business houses will be closed half a day today Good Friday closing at noon and remaining closed for the rest of the day. Poth business houses will observe all day today Good Friday just as last year. Schools here will be closed all day today.
Revival services begin at 11 a.m. with a preacher leading the gathering. A school trustee election is noted for Easter week and county elections conclude on April 7 with two candidates mentioned.
District 4-H events held at the American Legion Hall featured senior division winners in speech and demonstration contests. Carolyn Whitaker Janet Sells Ther a H Cheb Sally Sekuls Joann Modygemba Pauline Teirds Melia Farias and Roselie Smolka were among ribbon recipients in foods and vegetables judging.
Poth Boys 4H Club held its regular meeting on Thursday March 22 with President Marvin Rudolf presiding. Minutes were read and approved. After roll call the president sought new business. The tractor contest and other contests on April 14 were discussed. County Agent Eugene Spaniel explained the various contests in detail.
A garbled note thanks a unnamed donor for a generous gift to the Wale Band. The message expresses deep appreciation and mentions Furke and a rider or ers in a partial, unclear transcription.
Floresville elementary and junior high pupils joined the district event last Wednesday at Smiley, tying for second in the Grade School division. Duane Kline earned second in story telling, Frances Estrada and Gladys Oltjendiers were second in fifth and sixth grade spelling, and Jean Walston with Abelardo Valdez took third in seventh and eighth grade spelling. Don McFarland won first in junior boys declamation, Mona L. Ommann was second in junior girls declamation, Delbert Cox and Judy Sammons took first and second in number sense, with coaching by H W Filleman Delma Harper Brown Williams H Wiseman and Hattie Barns.
