Bank Robbery at La Vernia News Update
Early Sunday morning theState Bank of La Vernia was robbed. Thieves entered via the front street window and knocked knobs from safes but failed to open the time lock inner safe. About $159.30 in coins and papers were taken from the outer safe. The robbers fled through the front door, leaving pennies and a cigar box along the street. FBI agents from San Antonio, Sheriff D J Roberts, and Constable Melvin Chaney areInvestigating since Sunday.

Corpus Christi Capture Ends 4000 Mile Crime Trail
Corpus Christi police captured two escapees from Huntsville prison J W Mann 32 of Crosbyton and William Weems 28 of Austin after a kidnapping at a filling station. They had fled a spree of robberies auto theft and kidnapping across South and West Texas with two women spared unharmed. The pair admitted involvement in a Poth robbery and remained in Nueces County jail as investigations continued.
