Mother Of Congressman Milton H. West Dies
Mrs. M. C. West of Mercedes Texas died at 84 after a long illness. She was the mother of Congressman Milton H. West and is survived by three sons L E West Paul West and J E West and three daughters Mrs B A Acker Mrs C R Park and Mrs L L Freasier. A brother and a sister also survive. The family moved to the Valley in 1912 after living in Mercedes except for Floresville and Wilson County ties.

Scout Leadership Training Sessions Planned in Wilson District

LaVernia Church Plans Water Well Improvements
Rev Ross T Welch pastor of the Methodist Church at LaVernia with Jas Sanders visited Floresville on business. Welch said the church will drill a water well on church property, install a pump and pipe water to the grounds and parsonage nearby. Sanders added he became a new subscriber to the county paper while here.

Bartosch Dies at Schulenburg Home at 69
Frank Bartosch age 69 died at his Schulenburg residence on Monday March 25 1940 at 130 PM after months of illness. The funeral was held there Wednesday morning with large attendance. He leaves a widow and three children Ed of Floresville Emil of Fort Worth and Mrs Louis Richer of Schulenburg. The Chroniclé-Journal extends sympathy to the family.
