Stockdale wins Class A with 177 1 2 points over Floresville 59 points. Path takes Class B with LaVernia close second. Alum wins Rural Division. Floresville earns Ward School honors.
Floresville hosted Wilson County annual school meet drawing one of its largest crowds. Director General W E Driskill and staff receive credit for a well run event. County Supt J B Swift and Floresville faculty aided. Stockdale won Class A high school with 177% points, Floresville 59. Ward division led by Floresville, Alum won rural with Sutherland Springs. Path won Class B with 57, La Vernia 55. Stockdale took Junior High with Poth second. Rural schools showed strong extra effort and audience turnout.
Director General W E Driskill from Stockdale corrected the County Meet results. The Rural School Division under choral singing had been listed as third place with Alum school scoring 10 points, but with only three schools, no third place exists and Aum ehool was not in the printed results.
Thomas Collins 73 a Beeville resident died suddenly Monday at 9 am at his sister Mrs A F Moeller s Floresville home after a heart attack. He was visiting relatives and the body was taken to Beeville for services at St Joseph s Catholic Cemetery. Interment followed services at Beeville. The community extends sympathy to the Moeller and Collins families.
Agents invite all interested to attend a meeting at the Floresville courthouse on Friday night April 5 at 8 o'clock. Matters of vital importance to growers will be discussed and the meeting is open to all who wish to attend, not limited to onion growers.

The Texas house finals passed a bill to appropriate $10,000,000 for rural school aid and equalization over the next biennium, a $4,000,000 increase. The measure, not yet acted on by the senate, sets $4,000,000 yearly for rural aid plus $750,000 for vocational education and $150,000 for crippled children education. An Alfred Petsch amendment to restrict funds to transportation, salaries, and supplementing federal aid was adopted.
Wilson county census for Floresville Independent School District closes Sunday March 8 1935. The Wilson County Home Demonstration Council met March 23 at the home demonstration agent’s office to discuss the meaning of the A A A. County Agent A A Storey Jr cited over production and ten year data, noting one farmer in thirteen lost his farm from 1929 to 1932 and that farmers earned only one dollar in fourteen of the national income, arguing that A A A measures were needed to aid them.
A meeting at Floresville High School auditorium next Tuesday morning April 2 at 9 o clock invites all fathers mothers and boys to help organize a Boy Scout troop in Floresville. Carl Ree of San Antonio Scout master and organizers urge attendance.
Texas Representative objects to including Canadian stock in a proposed reciprocal treaty. The dispute centers on protective tariffs and agricultural trade policy affecting cattle imports and bilateral commerce.
Representative Rich ard M. Kleberg of Corpus Christi urged excluding cattle from the reciprocal trade agreement with Canada. He criticized the fact finding agency for not notifying Texas cattle raisers of the hearing and warned that lowering cattle tariffs clashes with U.S. production control. He noted Canadian cattle imports have risen despite tariffs and cited government purchases under agricultural adjustment programs.
Antonio R Flores age 60 6 months 24 days longtime Floresville resident died March 27 1985 in Santa Fe New Mexico He was born September 2 1874 son of Antonio S Flores a Floresville pioneer Survived by widow Concepcion Rodriguez de Flores a son Antonio Jr daughter Leona Griffin four grandchildren and six brothers and four sisters The Chronicle Journal offers condolences to the family.

Loans limited to those unable to obtain credit locally. repayment terms secured by crop mortgages and waivers. Rural Supervisor FE Hughes to administer funds and ensure planting occurs promptly.
The U S Department of Commerce via J J Edds Floresville county cotton statistician releases Wilson County’s final 1934 cotton crop figure at 9575 bales, up from 7957 in 1933 by 1618. The Texas total reaches 2314164 bales vs 4220275 bales in 1933.
Davis L. Key district rural supervisor for the Texas Relief Committee in charge of rural rehabilitation in 29 Southwest Texas counties was here Tuesday on business with Mr. E T Hughes Wilson county supervisor. Key is a very busy man these days and he is putting over this gigantic program in a most commendable way. He is making his headquarters at Seguin.
Washington March 27 W R Ely member of the Texas Highway Commission said Texas could receive about 50 million dollars from the presidents relief bill. A third would fund grade crossing eliminations about 8 million would aid municipal projects with the balance for state highways to close gaps and improve other roads.
Rev W M McKinney, pastor of Stockdale Methodist Church, announces revival services by Dr H C Morrison of Asbury College Kentucky. The revival runs March 31 to April 7 and invites Floresville residents to attend and unite with Stockdale church in the effort. Dr Morrison is described as an aged veteran of ministry.
Floresville officials list for the regular city election to be held at city hall on Tuesday April 2. No new candidates have filed and opposition is unlikely. Mayors, treasurer, recorder, marshal, clerk and three aldermen are named, with two holdovers not on this year’s ticket. Official notices have been published for five weeks.
Lawrence Kansas March 22 Emmett Lyons Whitsett of Texas University finished fourth in the Missouri Valley extemporaneous contest won by Kansas University. Twelve Valley universities competed with Jesse Villareal of Texas second and Iowa first. Whitsett, son of Mr and Mrs E L Whitsett of Floresville, earned high praise from friends for his showing representing Texas University.
