TXDOT to Begin Wilson County Road Projects This Year
TXDOT plans multiple Wilson County road and bridge upgrades with several million dollars in funding. Seal coating begins May 10 on nine road strips including FM 537 FM 2772 FM 2505 FM 1922 FM 3161 FM 775 between FM 3432 and US 181 FM 1681 from Union Valley to the county line and FM 1347 from SH 119 to FM 538. Two bridges will be repaired the Ecleto bridge on FM 1347 is to be replaced at a cost of 1.1 million near late June and a 207000 anti erosion project will reinforce the San Antonio River Bridge on SH 97 West around early May. The west bank erosion will be mitigated with rock placement while the east bank also erodes.

Police suspect murder in Stockdale shooting death
A Stockdale woman, 48 year old Barbara Bruening Coull, was found shot three times in her driveway on March 20 at about 6:28 p.m. An out-of-town man, 61-year-old Lee Van Tollefson, a Minnesota resident renting space at her trailer, was arrested and charged with first degree murder as the investigation continues.

Four candidates will compete for Place 1 in Floresville’s May 10 city council election following a year marked by the firing of City Manager Juan Cedillo, budget clashes, and a recall effort against Rudy Sanchez and Gloriana Ortiz. Grand jury indicts 32 in Wilson County cases
A Wilson County grand jury charged 32 individuals on March 6 with crimes from assault to bigamy. Among the indictments were six for assault and two for deadly conduct, seven narcotics cases, three for subsequent DWI, and eight theft related offenses. Names include William Bindsell for injury to a child, Kevin Hightower for bigamy, and Jeffrey Jarrell for theft.
