Raymond M. Ramirez seeks the Floresville mayoral seat while continuing as Alderman Place 1 on the Floresville City Council since 1984. He pledges focus on economic development crime reduction street and drainage work sewer improvements and support for Fire EMS and parks within a 1992 election context.
Twenty one mayors from El Salvador’s La Paz and San Salvador departments arrived in Baton Rouge on February 16 to study municipal government as part of the American Peace Scholarship program of USAID. They participate in leadership workshops at LSU and toured several Louisiana cities, visiting Floresville, La Vernia, and Wilson County facilities before heading to Texas.
Open meeting for Poth Community Fair Days set for 7 p.m. Thursday March 26 at Poth City Hall. Organized by Poth Chamber of Commerce Volunteer Fire Department and Athletic Association, with activities planned and attendance requested. An umpire clinic will be held Friday March 27 at 5 30 p m at the Pizza Corral meeting room and again Saturday March 28 at Ed Curmatie.
Daniel Castillo announces his candidacy for Floresville City Council Place 1. A lifelong Floresville resident, husband to Naomi Martinez, father of Cassandra and Dominic, he serves as Sacred Heart School Board vice president and Flor esville Public Housing Authority commissioner. He works at Southern Steel Company in San Antonio for 15 years as purchasing representative. He pledges to state his positions clearly and seeks support for the May 22 city council election.
Floresville chamber plans its annual banquet at Knights of Columbus Hall with social hour at 6:00 p.m. and dinner at 7:00 p.m. Edward J. Lodell of St Marys University to speak, after being named Deirdre Harkins Richards Professor in Free Enterprise. Endowment funds support business education and related programs.
The Democratic party of Wilson County will hold its age convention at 10 a.m. Saturday March 28 in the district courtroom of the Wilson County Courthouse. Delegates and alternates are invited to attend this important meeting.
