Path Elementary School Public School Week Highlights
Parents of Kindergarten through fifth grade visited classrooms during Public School Week March 4 7. Ninety four percent attended, up from eighty one percent last year. Six rooms reached full participation with one hundred percent or more. Mrs Rotter's kindergarten won first place, Mrs Stavinoha's and Mrs Moczygemba's third grades tied for second, and Mrs Kilgore's fifth grade took third. The final three hours featured Jump Rope for Heart for grades K through S, lasting 180 minutes with a team of six teachers. Principal C G Vetter and the faculty thank the parents for their support.

Pedestrian Dies In Hit And Run Near Floresville
Venancio Yracheta aged 69 died after a hit and run on Highway 181 near J.B. Auto Parts in Floresville Texas about 8 p.m. March 20 1983. Two occupants in a pickup were arrested north of Floresville near Highway 1604. Both face Failure To Stop and Render Aid and DWI charges. one man also charged with Criminal Negligence. Investigated by Officer Profirio Talamantez with deputies and DPS.

Pickup Flip After Wild Chase Near Floresville
A pickup stuck in a Bexar County bar ditch was pulled free by City Towing of San Antonio. The occupants fled the scene refusing to pay, prompting a pursuit into Floresville where Officer Haney and Police Chief Griego stopped the chase as the truck flipped near Highway 181 and 97 around 5:30 am on March 21, 1983. DWI charges public intoxication and fleeing from a police officer are planned.
