Government hog price support changes April 15
Effective April 15, hog price support will be cancelled for hogs over 200 pounds while support remains for 200 to 270 pound hogs. The prior extension lifting weights to 330 pounds was a temporary emergency measure to ease market congestion. Government guidance via wire to terminal markets specifies support on good and choice hogs in the 200 to 270 pound range.

John Barnes Returns to Service After Two Wars
John Barnes, wounded in World War I, serves again in World War II and expresses pride in aiding the nation. On a brief Floresville visit, he arrives from the Dona Ana Rifle Range near El Paso, after fifteen months at the maneuver grounds. Barnes served with the 141st Infantry of the 36th Division in France, was wounded at Meuse Argonne Forest, and received citations and the Purple Heart. Floresville friends welcome the two-war veteran home.

Saspamco Sailor Jose Carvajal Dies at California Naval Hospital
Jose Louis Carvajal, a 32 year old sailor from Saspamco, died at a U S Naval Hospital in California after a short illness. His body was to return to Saspamco for burial Friday. He served about two months and is survived by his wife and two children, son of Mr and Mrs Jose Carvajal.

The infant daughter of Pfc. and Mrs. Martin Pennartz Louise Carolyn Pennartz was laid to rest at Floresville Catholic Cemetery Thursday at 4 p.m. Rev. Fred Drees officiated. Born at Blake Hospital last Wednesday at 9:00 p.m., she lived only briefly. Survived by parents and grandparents W. Mosmeyer, Mrs. Mosmeyer, Sam Pennartz, Mrs. Pennartz. Mr. Pennartz serves in the U. S. Army.

Price Spot Checks Set for All San Antonio Grocers
The San Antonio OPA district will spot check every retail grocery store for price compliance starting Monday March 20. Arthur E. Boaz, district OPA price liaison officer, says a district section must be completed by March 28. Some ration boards will close four hours daily to reallocate staff, while others may operate without closing. Compliance conferences and panel reviews of inspection results are planned March 27 through April 1 with violators.

The Alamo Camp and Hospital Council in this county received a piano donated by Frank Robles for the boys in the service. The piano will go to Randolph Field, with heartfelt thanks from servicemen. Wilson County Red Cross War Fund drive nears deadline
Only 16 of 43 Wilson County school districts have reported to County Chairman Garland in the Red Cross War Fund Campaign.
