Wilson County school meet underway today at the high school auditorium starting at 9 oclock with contestants from across the county. Many schools declare holiday as literary contests run today and track events take place tomorrow.
Citizens and patrons urged to attend the annual Wilson County School Meet in Floresville hosted by the University Interscholastic League. Many schools planned holidays as hundreds of students compete in divisions for different class sizes. program begins at 9:00 a.m. in the high school auditorium with two days of events and free admission. Supt. S. P. Conn oversees arrangements with local teachers and Floresville P T A volunteers serving refreshments.
B V Johnson of the State Comptroller’s Department, stationed in Dallas, spent the past weekend with his family here and will travel to Brenham to resume duty.

Vincent Tietzman aged 86, a well known young farmer from Kosciusko, died at Blake hospital after a week of illness. An operation was performed Monday. Funeral held Wednesday morning in Kosciusko, with Rev. Father B. C. Kaminski officiating and burial beneath an American flag. Floresville Post members Hal Warren, Roy Seale, Alex Lieberman, and Joe de la Zerda attended.

Stockdale led by Mrs. W E Driskill won boys and girls singles titles at the Dilworth Ranch school meet, taking overall victory. Dilworth Ranch coached by Hermon Allen finished strong with girls doubles win and runner up in other events. Floresville’s Clara Marie Reichert netters took boys doubles and placed high in singles. Rural division saw Midway sweep all four divisions, Alum and Sutherland Springs adding multiple runner up results. Dolores Ahrens of Stockdale won girls singles. Crystal Hawk of Dilworth Ranch was a runner up in girls singles.
The Darktown society will entertain a large Floresville audience next Friday night March 1. The program begins promptly at 8. Proceeds will benefit Scrale.
The government loan program for farming expenses is nearing its deadline. About 665 Wilson county loans have gone to Dallas, covering seed, cultivation, fertilizer, and other crop costs. Local committees emphasize renter waivers and mortgage considerations, noting loans can aid planting and upkeep with a March to April rush.
Judge and Mrs. 8. B. Carr hosted a maroon and white Floresville High School banquet for the girls on Monday evening March 20. All team members attended except Louise Billimek due to illness. Toasts honored Miss Clara Marie Reichert, coach, and captain Velma Potts, with games and puzzles providing entertainment. Mabel Barber won high score.
The new Floresville Stockdale Highway maintenance warehouse near Highway No 16 was dedicated Monday night. Bert Cameron hosted the event guiding guests through the facility sized for trucks and equipment. The Bloresville Chamber of Commerce donated the acre of ground and a Mexican orchestra provided music during a long table meal. Division Engineer J G Rollins and other Highway Department staff spoke.
