Senior Citizens Garden Initiative Opens in Wilson County

On March 1 1978 the Wilson County Senior Citizens and Volunteers began plowing for a first garden in Floresville and Path. Land water equipment seeds are donated with harvests going to residents over 60 who help. Sick or shut in seniors over 60 may also receive vegetables. Call Rosie Villa at 393 2793 or volunteers Alfonso Flores and Alejandro Garcia for information and to help.

Texas city sales tax rebates mailed to cities

Austin State Comptroller Bob Bullock announced checks totaling 69.2 million were mailed to 915 Texas cities as their March share of the one percent city sales tax. The rebates rose 17.4 percent from a year earlier and lifted the year-to-date total to 401.5 million. Specific amounts included Floresville 15,180.98, Falls City 2,249.83, Jourdan ton 10,115.67, La Vernia 3,117.70, Kames City 10,042.15, Kenedy 22,988.30, Pleasanton 41,813.99, Stockdale 3,029.95.

Pleas anton youth dies in Campbellton mine accident

Justice of the Peace Norman Earl Roane ruled that Roberto B. Leal an 18 year old Pleasanton youth died instantly when two scrapers collided at the Hart Mine six miles east of Campbellton on FM 1099 Friday night March 10. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Victor Leal of Pleasanton and lived with his wife Rose in Pleasanton.

Floresville Jaycees Easter Egg Hunt March 25

The Floresville Jaycees announce a city wide Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday March 25 at 3 00 p m. The event at hospital grounds on G Street features three age groups 18 months to 3 years 4 to 6 years and 7 to 8 years with two special eggs per group to win prizes. No charge and all kids 1 through 8 years are welcome to participate. Bring your own basket.

Beverly Bayer daughter of Mr and Mrs Val Bayer Jr of Floresville has been chosen to represent Floresville at the Miss Heart of the Border Pageant in Carrizo Springs. She will follow Peggy Gordon as Floresville Junior Miss and attend events across the region. Beverly, a Floresville High School junior, plans art education or commercial art after graduation and is active in student council FHA and 4 H. She will compete in Talent Evening Gown and Sportswear at the pageant and has been invited to Beeville Victoria and Laredo pageants.
