Stockdale topped the Wilson County school meet held last week with 295 points. Floresville placed second with 194 points, while La Vernia finished third and Dilworth Ranch fourth as rural schools showed strong interest.
Stockdale High School topped the Class B and Grammar School County Meet at Stockdale with 295 points, Floresville 194, La Vernia 85, and Dilworth Ranch 49. Floresville’s Graham McNiel led in multiple track events while Stockdale hosted a packed auditorium and a strong showcase of local schools and talent.
Congressman Richard M. Kleberg of Corpus Christi will deliver a radio address Monday night at 9 30 p m Texas time over a national hook-up. The event is carried on the Kleberg Radi ace program.
Lyndon B. Johnson, secretary to Congressman Richard M. Kleberg, traveled from Washington by rail and plane to Texas last Sunday. He spent Friday in Austin and Saturday in San Antonio, then hurried to Robstown on official business with editors S. D. Chesnutt and the Chronicle-Journal. Johnson reports a busy Washington session and backing for President Franklin D. Roosevelt as the nation seeks guidance from the administration. He serves as secretary to the Texas Club in Washington and continues aiding the district’s people.

The well known orchestra led by W. A. Riemenschneider of Flonesville will be heard on radio station KETSA next Sunday from 4 30 to 5 00 PM. Nine members perform and friends of Mr Riemenschneider are invited to tune in for the program.
Local candidate M. M. Hughes announces intention to run for district clerk in Wilson County. Campaign details and platform to be released pending official filing and party affiliation.
The Methodist Church announces a morning revival from March 25 to April 1 at 11 o'clock led by Pastor A. A. Carter with a theme Some In Great Revivals. Musician William H. Doyle will perform in most services and Sunday night text Seek Ye The Lord While He May Be Found Call Ye Upon Him While He Is Near. Attendance is organized by groups each night from Monday through Sunday and invites all to join in worship and service to spread the Master’s way.
Mr and Mrs Thos Swift of Fairview celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on the 12th of this month. Most of their children were home for the occasion with grandchildren and relatives present. A noon family dinner marked a day long remembered as the couple, pioneer settlers, were honored by friends near and far. Mr Swift has long served as justice of the peace of his precinct and is a respected Wilson county citizen.
In Floresville region plans are set for Emergency Crop Loan assistance within days. County agent Patrick and local officials report loan limits vary from twenty five to two hundred fifty dollars, with a maximum five hundred per landlord and tenants. Applicants over one hundred fifty dollars must go through Production Credit Association first. if insufficient, Emergency Crop Loan Section will provide aid. Loans cover seed, fertilizer, fuel, and essential maintenance as the program runs until May first. Patrick will visit Floresville twice weekly, headquartered at the Chamber of Commerce.
All Poth stores will close until noon on Good Friday March 30 so the public may attend Easter church services in the city. Merchants urge patrons to support local shops. The notice requests public cooperation in observing the closures for the holy morning.
The Male Chorus of 21 voices from A and I College at Kingsville, directed by Prof. Paul M. Riley, performs tonight at Floresville High School Auditorium at 8 o'clock. The free concert invites all students and the public, with local hosts hosting the chorus members. The program features a well balanced selection and includes George McCulley and B J Patrick among the group.
Paul M. Riley directs a local theater program reviving classic war era songs and portraits of soldiers. The event features performances of The Boys of the Old Brigade and Stars of the Summer Night, drawing community members to the West venue for a nostalgic musical night.
The CWA program will be replaced by a work relief plan starting April 1, introducing new projects under a unified budget system. The local relief office will re investigate all aid cases and the program will adopt a definite permanent aspect with a formal wage scale.

Floresville Chapter No. 271 of the Order of the Eastern Star held a well attended meeting last Monday with Deputy Grand Matron Mrs Anne H. Canze visiting. Guests from Karnes City San Antonio and Karnes City spoke, the chapter room was decorated, gifts were presented to Mrs Canze, and refreshments followed.
Louie Graham Batchelor a Georgia University senior is hailed by the track coach as the greatest athlete the state has produced. Batchelor son of Mr and Mrs Chas Batchelor of this place is recognized for his stellar track accomplishments and leadership.
W A Krebs a well known farmer from the Three Oaks community announces his bid for County Commissioner Precinct 2. He seeks to bring rural values to the board and improve local services.
