Mary Grace Coates, a Floresville resident for twelve years with children in the local schools, announces her candidacy for school trustee Place 3. She highlights extensive community involvement, business background, and ongoing UTSA studies, seeking voter support for the April election.
Marietta Matheaus announces her candidacy as a write in for Place I on the Poth Independent School District Board of Trustees. A mother of two, she lives fifteen years in Poth with her husband and is active with St. John's Lutheran Church, Band Boosters, 4-H, and Wilson County Adult Leader's Association. Matheaus cites banking experience and local involvement as qualifications and asks for votes.
The Wilson County EMS Emergency Care Attendant Course starts Thursday evening March 22 1979 in the hospital basement. The course is free and valuable for participants. For more information contact Ted Keen at 3936131 or Dan McGee at 3932921.
Texas Extension Service agent Charles Pfluger Jr explains that 4-H projects teach by doing through sewing baking and garden work. Members learn decision making teamwork and ownership while developing leadership fellowship and personal growth in real life settings.
A large audience praised the talent show titled At The Hop 79 sponsored by Mrs. Jan Schell and Mrs. Jill Sims. Judges Mary Herrera, Madelene Polas ek, David Gordon, Diana Garza, Sharon Gierdan Silva contributed to a well run event with decorations and organizing help from numerous volunteers. Winners were Wendy Mills, Guadalupe Vasquez, and The Village People with Jason Clancy and Vince Alvarez among top performers.
Jim Wright and John B. Connally top the 13th Annual Texas and Texan of the Year Reception co sponsored by the Texas State Chamber of Commerce and New Braunfels Chamber. The event runs March 22–23 at the New Braunfels Civic Center with panels on State and National issues and remarks by Speaker Bill Clayton and noontime address by Wright.

Home representatives Ava McDaniel Benito De Hoyas Andres Trevino Alma Seidel Queen of the years Rock n Roll Jamboree and council officers spoke of fundraising efforts and community support.
The Floresville Peanut Festival Association seeks designs for a new train to honor the Queen. Submissions open to all, with every design to be displayed in the Wiley Seale Auditorium center aisle if feasible. Proposals should detail fabric choices, purchase sources, and explicit explanations of the concept. The train should reflect the Peanut Theme and be usable for several years.
Regional hospitals, represented by Memorial Hospital, join the TELPAS alliance to curb inflation.
