Ben Fields announces candidacy for the FISD Board of Trustees Place 7. A Tennessee native living in the district 10 years with wife Margaret and children Fawn and Bear. He champions quality education over second best, cites House Bill 72 facility expansion, and urges support in the April 5 1986 election.
Police reported a stretch from March 10 to March 17 with multiple thefts. A broken window on Sixth Street damaged $200 to $750, auto letters stolen from Braden Auto Supply, a band hall safe theft, and a blue 10 speed bicycle taken from Fourth Street. A church break-in yielded no theft, a misused long distance phone scheme affected five numbers, and two marijuana related incidents plus a DWI were logged. A copper 1986 Chevrolet pickup valued at $15,000 went missing from Richardson Bros Chevrolet on March 17.
Russell Boening announces candidacy for Place 4 on the Poth Independent School District Board. lifelong Poth resident, Texas A M graduate, dairy farm operator with his father and brother, citing quality education and local support as reasons for seeking votes.
The Wilson County Volunteer Ambulance Association seeks daytime weekday volunteers. A free 60 hour Emergency Care At Academy course starts April 1, 1986 at 7:30 PM at the Fire Station. Contact Marvin Roemer or Ann Montoya at 393-393-21.
Bennie Bock II a former Texas House member filed to run for State Senator in District 21. The New Braunfels attorney rancher served five House terms from 1972 to 1983 and helped pass Governor Bill Clements wall drugs legislation in 1981. He cited the lack of a conservative choice as Senator Traeger will not seek reelection. He noted support from friends and emphasized South Texas needs a conscientious voice in the Senate. He and his wife Kathy live in New Braunfels with two daughters.
Laskowski announces candidacy for the Poth ISD Board of Trustees Place 3. A lifelong Poth resident living in Kosciusko Community with two sons, Nicholas and Neal, he pledges honest fair representation and asks for votes in the April 5 school board election.
The Wilson County Historical Commission will meet in the Library Gold Room at 4:00 PM to discuss county history. An invited session with the Guadalupe Historical Society is planned for April 4 at the same Library location and time.
Eddy Allerkamp born March 30 1886 in the Hill Country near Comfort Texas is honored for his 100th birthday. A Navy baker who circled the globe early in his career he later worked 40 years with the U S Postal Service between Houston and San Antonio. He and his family settled in Floresville where he remains active in the United Methodist Church and Masonry. A public 100th birthday celebration is planned with lodge and church events and an open house on March 29.

Floresville High School presents the UIL One Act Play on Wednesday March 19 at 7 30 pm in the high school auditorium. The play titled Of Winners Losers and Games is by O B Rozell and features characters Winner Olga Alvarez Loser Cuteed Tack Bob Paul Uhlig and others listed in the program.
