Robert F Spruce was re elected president of the Floresville Chamber of Commerce for another year at a meeting of the new board of directors in the courthouse office. J H Sheehy was elected vice president and D Ray Alford became secretary treasurer replacing Harry Woolsey. The 1954 board has six one year terms and six two year terms with six directors to be elected annually. Membership sits at 172 with a goal of 1954 55 members and dues were set at 5.00.

All-County Talent Show Promises Lions Club Support
Chairman C L Crutchfield and the Lions Club committee organize the All County Talent Show at Fioresville High School Gym on Friday March 26 at 8 pm. Tickets go on sale this weekend with donations of 60 cents for adults and 25 cents for students. Proceeds fund bleachers and equipment for the Lions Club Softball Recreational Program at the lighted field this summer.

Floresville Legion Post Hosts Barbecue for Anniversary
Floresville Legion Post hosted about 50 legionnaires and guests at a barbecue on the banks of the San Antonio River State Highway Park south of Floresville. Attending were representatives from Cuero Seguin New Braunfels Pleasanton San Antonio Jourdanton Stockdale and Kosciusko posts. A large barbecue of beef and mutton with trimmings was served as committees of about 25 men cooked and served. Speakers included Charles Downey of Pleasanton Deputy Commander of the 14th Congressional District Lotus Boyle of Seguin and Past State Commander Herman Nami of San Antonio. Floresville Post organized in 1919 with 172 members and recently added 45 new members during a membership drive commemorating the American Legion’s 85th anniversary. Officers thanked all committees and workers for a successful event.
