In the eastern county the Melon Aphid attacks meson plants while striped Cucumber Beetles feed on young leaves. Simple, low cost spray methods can kill both pests. Some workers have already built barrel sprayers for large scale application using a nicotine-based solution.
Floresville High School will be well represented at the district meet in Kenedy today and Saturday. Two debating teams and two declaimers will compete in literary events with Newel Ford Everett Zook Lillie Blake and Bessie Herrington as debaters and Ted Johnson Maurine Swift as declaimers. Track and field entrants Vaughn Blake McCoy Cone John Clark Myers Tom Johnson Tel Jolson and Kenneth Powell will vie for honors at the Kenedy Fairgrounds.
Work is progressing on a large modern drive-in filling station being erected by Dr J E Sparks across from the courthouse. The buff brick station will have all modern conveniences and be designed by Adams and Adams of San Antonio. A 26000 gallon steel storage tank with electric systems has been installed nearby and will supply the new station. The station will be operated by Wai A Bowling, Dr Sparks son, who moved here from San Antonio.
In Huntsville Texas on April 16 a local exhibit displayed eggs nearly as large as standard hens eggs. Observers noted some specimens measured about 28 inches in circumference and described the scene as if a week had passed since a storm.
Frigid conditions disrupt agriculture with freezing weather reported across the Tex as Passhandle today. Amarillo and surrounding regions logged cold temps and mention of damaged fruit trees and delayed farming activities.

The Floresville Methodist Church wraps up a ten day spring revival on Easter Sunday. Rev J W Chisholm leads strong gospel messages and a grand cantata closes the program with the church, town and attendees lifted spiritually. Local interest grew as the revival drew many to hear the choir and sermons.
The family expresses deep appreciation for the love kindness and sympathy shown during the illness and at the homegoing of Mr. W T Sutherland. They thank the physicians ministers and friends who attended and comforted them in their sorrow.
Easter services will be held at the Three Oaks Evangelical Friedens Church next Sunday April 20 Sunday School begins at 9:00 a.m. The preaching service and Lord s Supper follow. Rev J H Koenig of San Antonio will occupy the pulpit. Everyone is invited.
Dewees School hosts a box supper and dance on Thursday April 24 to raise funds for the school. Everyone is invited for good music and a community event at the School House.
Floresville and Jourdanton road conditions praised during a visit with Mr and Mrs G A Schroeder and family. The report notes good road surfaces overall with only minor rough sections and no major issues observed on the route.
