Drug bust nets 82 grams cocaine in Floresville traffic stop

Floresville police halted a car on Highway 181 after a reckless driving report. K-9 Don alerted narcotics in the vehicle, yielding about 82.8 grams of cocaine with an estimated value of $8,280. Suspect Gabriel Anthony Gaitan, new Floresville resident, claimed the car belonged to his wife.

Dry conditions and winds fuel multiple wildfires in Floresville area

Floresville volunteers tackled several fires on Hwy 97 West near CR 1344 and Hwy 181 bypass near the cemetery after dry, windy weather. About 100 acres burned Thursday at Hwy 97 and CR 535. Eagle Creek volunteers fought a subdivision blaze of about two acres. No homes were damaged, all fires were attributed to various causes, and burn bans extend 90 days as rain is hoped to ease conditions. Conditions remained risky with 10 to 15 mph winds. investigations into Monday’s fires continue.

Path High School shows dangers of drinking and driving

Path High School students spent two days enacting a crash scene to illustrate alcohol related death risks. An 18 person “living dead” series represented those killed in alcohol related incidents while a mock crash with five students simulated a real collision. Police and safety officials arrived as the scene unfolded, with parents notified of the dangers.
