Jaycee Easter Egg Hunt Set For March 25

Final plans outline a city wide Jaycee Easter Egg Hunt at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday March 25 at the Hospital grounds on G Street. Three age groups 18 months to 3 years 4 to 5 years and 6 to 8 years will compete with two specially marked eggs per group to win prizes. No charge and all children through age 8 invited. Bring a basket.

Open House Highlights Parade of School Projects in Floresville

During National Education Week Floresville hosted an open house across four campuses. Teachers and students showcased classroom work while a school cafeteria provided refreshments. The Parent Teacher Group held its March meeting, with plans for April and May sessions on policy and accreditation, plus a possible event to meet School Board candidates. The Right to Read program was explained by Region 20’s Betty Childs, highlighting state and local coordination and Floresville’s preparations for next year.

Poth High Future Homemakers Entertain At State Dallas

Mrs. Charlotte Goss announced two talent entries invited to entertain at the Future Homemakers of America state convention in Dallas Texas on April 21 and 22. The area competition at the St Anthony Hotel in San Antonio on March 3 featured Cheryl and Pamela Billimek with a disco routine to High School Dance. Eight freshmen performed flag and dance routines to music.

Elsie Wright Seeks Donations For American Cancer Society

Mrs. Elsie Wright, longtime Wilson County American Cancer Society member and Memorial Chair, urges gifts in memory or to honor loved ones. Donations can be left at a local bank or arranged by calling Mrs. Elsie Wright at 393-2571 to support cancer research and detection.

Approximately 5 000 students from Texas gathered in San Antonio for the 35th Pan American Student Forum State Convention on March 24 to elect a new state executive board. Danny Tejada, a Floresville High junior, won the post after months of campaigning and reach to about 11 000 members.

Mr Danny Tejada is linked to the Pan American Student Forum a cultural education and social group aiming to learn more about Latin America and improve relations. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Daniel Tejada and grandson of Mr and Mrs Raul Muniz and Mrs John Tejada of Floresville.

A Schüler talent show sponsored by Mrs. Jill Sims and others drew a large audience. Judges included Valerie Hicks and John Fuqua. Tomm y Garza shined. Student Council dance team impressed with La Raspa and Schottische numbers. Over one hundred dollars raised for a commemorative gift. The Floresville Chamber of Commerce sponsors a Trade Days Weekend Thursday through Saturday March 16 to 18 at participating businesses.
