James Noll’s 996 pound Hereford steer bred by Paul Mueller Ranch won Grand Champion in the livestock division at the 4th Annual Falls City Youth Fair held Saturday March 2. Reserve Champion went to Vincent Schere Jr.’s 909 pound Angus steer. Market hog Grand Champion was Tommy Gawlik Jr.’s 221 pound barrow with Melvin Lussy’s 204 pound Hampshire as Reserve. Lamb division winner was Ross Moczygemba with a 94 pound lamb. Reserve to his brother Michael Moczygemba’s Holstein heifer. Daily division to Joe Trial with a Jersey heifer. Reserve to Michael Trial’s Holstein heifer. Showmanship prizes of $5 awarded in each division by McClane Motor Co. to James Noll, Kevin Jurgajtis, Gery Moczygemba, and Michael Trial. Mrs. J. C. Turner Named Chairman Cancer Crusade
Mrs. J C Turner was named chairman of the American Cancer Society 1968 educational and fund raising crusade starting April 1. Unit President Mrs Carl Eschenburg announced the appointment, noting Turner's deep concern for cancer control and education. Turner will join about 3 000 unit chairmen nationwide, with Lawrence Welk named to lead the national effort in November 1968. The speaker cited progress from one in five saved to one in three, and under ideal conditions one in two, stressing early detection and prompt physician care.

Assault Case Ends In Hung Jury In La Vernia Trial
A Justice of the Peace Court in La Vernia heard assault charges against Robert Taylor a La Vernia Schools teacher after a Feb 27 paddling of two students witnessed by the principal. The jury deadlocked and charges were later dropped.
