The Floresville American Legion Post reorganized as 22 members enrolled and new officers elected and installed. State organization members attended the event at the local post and supported the ceremony.
Floresville Post No. 38 reorganized at a meeting with 22 members enrolled and more expected. State Legion officials Rev Dan A Lanning and Sam T McCarty urged loyalty and attendance as officers Hal Warren, E D Beck, Alex Lieberman and others were installed for the year. Regular monthly meetings will be announced soon. Ex service men urged to join via contacting new officers.
Fairview girls volleyball scored a decisive win over Floresville on Fairview court last Friday. Final tally Fairview 8 Floresville 14. The Fairview squad showed strong training and teamwork as they pursue a third straight county meet championship after two consecutive wins. A follow up match was scheduled for today with opponents not yet determined.
The City Waterworks will cut off water at 8 a.m. next Monday March 21 to repair fire hydrants. It may be off for several hours or most of the day. Water customers should make arrangements with J M Lipton Supt Waterworks.
Floresville received a 12 percent good fire record credit from Texas Fire Insurance Commissioner J. W. Deweese effective March 1, lowering penalties. City Fire Marshal J. M. Tipton announced the telegram, noting 1929 losses were under 500 dollars and urging precautions to preserve the record amidst past penalties and a 27 percent potential reduction.
Luis Guerrero a young Mexican man was shot twice in the chest with a .38 pistol near a Floresville depot just after 9 p.m. Sunday. Ramon Barrera surrendered to officers and faces a murder charge. Guerrero died almost instantly. Barrera waived examining trial and is jailed. Funeral services for Guerrero were held Monday afternoon in Floresville with burial in the Catholic cemetery.

The center of honey business is in the state with most trades in San Antonio. Wednesday’s SA Light reports.
Miss Laura Lucile Ammons travels to Austin to visit her grandmother and enroll in a postgraduate course titled Beauty Culture, expanding her professional and personal learning.
Literary events set for Friday with athletic contests on Saturday as the complete program is announced for the Stockdale school meet.
All Stockdale schools prepare for the Wilson County Interscholastic League Meet on March 21 22 with Supt W K Driskill leading preparations. The program includes declamations debates tennis and track events along with a lunch sale by the Mothers Club and an admission fee to cover judges and facilities. Floresville chamber meeting follows with farmers among 300 attendees highlighting membership growth and community spirit.
S. D. Seale is taking the Floresville Independent School District census. The census period closes March 31. All children aged 6 to 17 must be listed by that date.
Nearly 300 members attended the Chamber of Commerce meeting on Tuesday night. A tamale supper and program celebrated the membership campaign as part of the event.
On Monday night March 17 at 7 30 two Chamber of Commerce teams the Blues and the Reds dine at the White House Cafe. Blues menu turkey with trimmings while Reds endure brown beans onion corn bread toothpicks and water. A snappy program by Blues. Reds must assemble smile feed cheer and ask Fritz for the check. Forty seven members from each team are invited.
The Floresville P.T.A. will hold its regular business session next Thursday March 20 at 3 30 PM. The meeting will address officer seating for the new term and related agenda items.
A near fatal auto crash on the San Antonio Floresville road injured members of Paul Coxs family in Nueces County. Mrs Cox drove and lost control after passing a northbound car, the vehicle overturned off the road near Calaveras. Passersby freed occupants and they were taken to Oxford and Archer Hospital Corpus Christi for treatment. None seriously hurt though Fred Marshall suffered head and body cuts and Frances Cox and Blanche Alexander bruises. Marshall and Frances Cox were taken to Corpus Christi Sunday by ambulance. Cox drove to Lampasas to be with his injured daughter and her husband, Marshall, and the latest report says they are recovering.
Floresville Chapter No. 271 of the Order of the Eastern Star invites all to a St Patrick's Silver Tea on Tuesday March 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the home of Mrs Elbert W Franklin. Mentions greeting attendees and cordial invitation extended. Also notes Mr and Mrs Earl Young and baby daughter Dr Kingsville visiting en route home after time with BE W Herrington in San Antonio.
E. V. Johnson, census supervisor, appeals for county residents to cooperate with the census. The notice urges accurate reporting and orderly collection of data as the county proceeds with the 8S 8 April 2nd census process.
Frank B Vaughn of Seguin oversees the 23rd district census setup in Floresville. E W Johnson named Wilson county enumerator to survey businesses, mines and quarries with confidential data to be published only in aggregate. Citizens urged to cooperate and ensure every family is counted, blanks available from County Agent Beck.
Indoor baseball at Midway School court featured two games as Lodi and Midway squads prepare for the county meet. Lodi boys defeated Midway 34 to 6 while Midway girls edged Lodi 3 to 0 amid strong crowd support and high school spirit.
