A sixth grade Floresville student arrived Tuesday March 4 with a caliber weapon from home. He displayed the gun to classmates and reportedly pointed it at and threatened three students. Parents cooperated. the student is no longer in Floresville schools and is receiving education and medical help elsewhere.
The Floresville Middle School Band will attend a U S S concert and sight reading contest on Saturday March 15. They perform at 4 15 p m on stage in Alamo Heights High School auditorium. An invitation is extended to the public for the concert portion. After the contest they will bus to Mama’s Cafe on San Pedro hoping for a sweepstakes celebration.
The Mission Belles Chorus of San Antonio presents a free concert Sunday at 3:00 PM in Floresville High School Auditorium as part of the Floresville Musical Club’s Texas Sesquicentennial celebration. Led by Kathleen Hoover, the group seeks regional win to reach the Hawaii 1988 international chorus, with annual shows and Belle-A-Gram telegram program.
Mrs Tom Loeffler will appear at the Hiway Haus in La Vernia at noon on Tuesday March 18 to hear her speak about her husband’s hopes for Texas. A dutch treat luncheon will follow and the Wilson County Republican Women’s Club will hold a brief meeting. new members are welcome.
Floresville police noted a busy week with several two vehicle accidents between March 1 and March 10. Motorists were urged to drive cautiously. The Floresville Elementary principal’s office was broken into Monday at 9 am, with about 700 dollars worth of satellite equipment taken. Also mentioned are 4-H members from Wilson County winning at the Houston Poultry Show and related sales and educational programs.
Nelda Hoefelmeyer, a new YFU volunteer area rep for South Texas, will speak at 6:30 p.m. on March 16 in Floresville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall about placing students with host families.
Dollie Smith announces youth baseball registration for the season hosted by Fly Little League and Women Auxiliary. Interested participants may register at Carter Realtor, 1206 B Ave, during business hours. Final day is March 22, 1986 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Wal-Mart. A 1986 notice invites all to a Methodist Church gathering next Sunday at 6 30 p m to discuss hosting a West German student as part of a program run by Carl Nelda and family The event aims to share life experiences and provide information about overseas student hosting opportunities.
All persons are invited to meet at Sunnyside school house at 10 00 a m on Saturday March 15 to assist restoration. Progress is good but more work remains for the Sesquicentennial celebration in June. Bring a sack lunch and join the work force with drinks to be provided.
The next Friends of the Library meeting is rescheduled to 4 p.m. on a new date at the Gold Room of the Sam Fore Jr Wilson Cosmey Public Library in Floresville Texas. The notice requests disregard of the old date due to the change.
Floresville resident Trevino announces candidacy for Place 6 on the Floresville Independent School District Board of Trustees. He cites lifelong ties to Floresville, involvement with Floresville public schools, and commitment to students, teachers, and taxpayers as his key qualifications.
State Representative Eldon Bis visited the F I H S Student Council on Wednesday March 5 discussing proposed legal changes such as raising the drinking age and seatbelt laws. The meeting touched on teacher emergency procedures and related policy topics.
