The Floresville Jaguars lost to Cotulla 40-30 in the regional playoff final at Kingsville A&I College on March 7 securing second place. Waldrie Rehfeld led with 13 points, Annie Gonzales 10, Judy Starnes 6, as Cotulla advances to the state finals in Austin March 12 13 and 14.

Local Floresville Band Wins Multiple Firsts at Contest
Floresville students earned eight firsts and three seconds at the District Band Contest held March 7 at Randolph Field in San Antonio. Firsts include clarinet solos by Margie Teltschik and Jerry Teltschik, cornets by Freddie Dippel, and piano solos by Barbara Lawdon and Jane Spruce. Second place entries feature brass sextet and clarinet quartet showcases among others. overall the group is very proud of the students.

Major Carroll H. Teas US Air Force retired age 45 of 102 Meadowood Lane died March 6 1964 in a San Antonio hospital. Survived by wife Florence Teas. brothers Garland and Albert. sister Doris McCurdy. Funeral Monday 10 am at Georgian Chapel Porter Loring with Rev Richardson officiating. Interment Mission Burial Park. He served as a captain in WWI and was a pilot who aided wounded at Corregidor before polio left him wheelchair bound. He worked at Kelly Air Force Base and wife worked at Fort Sam Houston. Father of Mrs Edgar Ehlers Dies In San Antonio
Harry August Beyer 68 of San Antonio died March 7 1964 at Grace Lutheran Hospital after six years as a maintenance man. A WWI veteran born December 1895 in Ellinger he later lived in Poth where funeral services were held at St. John's Lutheran Church with interment in its cemetery. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were named. He leaves a widow and two daughters.
