Floresville resident wins ten thousand dollars in Pfizer Gold Rush sweepstakes. Citizens from Floresville and Wilson County planned to attend Wayne Connally birthday barbecue in Kenedy on Saturday evening March 19 starting at 5 p.m. Connally is a candidate for State Senator for the 21st District. Gov John Connally and state officials signaled their intention to attend. Tickets priced 2.50 dollars were available at multiple local offices and businesses including Connally headquarters in Floresville, Chronicle Journal, and several banks and stores in nearby towns. The barbecue location was Chamber of Commerce Park, half a mile north of Kenedy on Highway 181.

Attend Funeral Services In Palestine Saturday
Mrs. P. H. Cox was notified March 4 of the death of her brother Paul Allen Cooksey 54 who died suddenly after a heart attack. Cooksey had suffered a first attack February 2 and after hospital confinement was sent home to recuperate until the fatal attack last Friday. Services were held in Palestine Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
