Howard's Depot at 1019 Street in Floresville announces a three day grand opening sale Thursday through Saturday March 8 9 and 10. Owners Liz and Buddy Howard and employee Carla Keylich invite all to browse register for free gifts, with savings up to 50 percent on basic clothing items.
Floresville receives lifesaving recognition for community health efforts. National targets aim for blood donations at five percent of population to prevent shortages and aid patients. Austin Comptroller Bob Bullock announced a BIS visit with Mike Silva at the Floresville courthouse from 9:00 to 12:00 on Thursday, March 15.
Wilson Memorial Hospital with Hermann Hospital and Amigos de las Americas donated a truckload of incubators operating room lights tables bandages and other supplies bound for Ecuadorian hospitals. The equipment moved via Ecuadorian Airlines will reach outlying areas after receiving minor repairs and inspection by biomedical engineers in Houston.
Path Elementary School marks Texas Public School Week during the week of March 9 1983 84 as principal Vetter notes involvement and encourages casting votes in the program.
Kenneth Moy son of Mr and Mrs Robert Moy earned a world record price of 52000 for his Grand Champion turkey tom at the 1984 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo auction on March 2. Houston businessmen Robert H Smith III John Beeson Dan H Moody Jim Boyce and I W Marks purchased the champion. Other Wilson County 4 H youth also sold birds in the sale including Cori Albert Ryan Rippert Lenette Kolodziej Lyndra Kolodziej Julie Pfeil Laurie Kotzur and Keith etc exhibitors of prize winning steers hogs lambs and broilers were noted with placements and thanks to adult leaders.
The Bexar County District Optometric Society announces Save Your Vision Week March 4 to 10 with a presidentially proclaimed reminder of preventive eye care. The 1984 theme Care About Eye Care emphasizes protecting personal vision and family needs and includes a free vision rodo and glaucoma screening at South Park San Antonio on March 10 from to 5 p.m.
Curtis and Pat Lyssy of Lyssy and Eckel Feed Stores in Path were awarded the Bronze Dealer Award at a dealer recognition banquet at The Hyatt Regency Texas. Northrup King executive John Ford praised farm supply dealers as vital to the agriculture chain and Lyssy noted seeds helping farmer incomes and yields start with quality seed.
Floresville league urges all parents and interested individuals to attend Thursday evening meetings at 7:00 for organizational planning. Meetings in City Park Concession Stand upper level will help run the league. Registration is Friday March 16 from 6 to 8 at Intermediate School Gym.
