Floresville Nursing Home hosts an open house and Rock and Roll Jamboree on Friday March 9 to raise funds for the American Heart Association. The day features performances by local bands, dance groups, and baton twirlers with a wheelchair race and multiple acts scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors are invited to enjoy activities and support the charity.
The Sisters of Floresville Memorial Hospital host the second in a series promoting Respect for Human Life. In the Year of the Child a lecture on Family Life will be given by Dr. and Mrs. Ricardo Riojas of San Antonio on Friday March 9 at 7 30 p.m. in the hospital basement. All are welcome.
Wayne Heiligmann of San Antonio has purchased the main interest in the Tala mantez Falstaff Distributing Co and will operate as Wayne Distributing Co Inc with Heiligmann as president. The firm stays at 940 F Street Floresville with phone 393 6702. Heiligmann will relocate to Floresville when housing allows and has hired Seldon Baker for outside sales. Ben Talamantez will remain associated with the new distributorship and invites continued calls for Falstaff.
Wilson County 4-Hers earned six blue ribbons one red and one white plus a first place winner to travel to the State Food Show in June. Wanda Cordes and Kathy Robinson Donna Cordes Beverly Hammer Darlene Sickenius Mary Ann Kaminski Lisa Scriven Shary all excel led in divisions and the group earned spots in the plates contest.
Parks and Wildlife Department announces a public hearing at 10 a.m. March 14, 1979, at the Floresville County Courthouse to gather input on Wilson County fishing and trapping regulations. The notice notes actions to be taken and outlines the public process.
Last week Tuesday evening Carol's Boutique on Third Street was entered and jewelry stolen. Intruders knocked out the front door and broke into a showroom case. City and County officers are investigating and have several fingerprint sets. The burglary remains under investigation.
