Spruce Sells Station To Taylor Brothers
John W. Spruce owner of the Floresville Quick Service Station sells the station to Louis and Lloyd Taylor sons of Napoleon Taylor and wife. Louis a former A and I College student takes over the business and Lloyd will join later from the CCC Camp at Seguin. Spruce built up a wide local acquaintance and plans for the future are undisclosed.

Gus Tieken 23 Dies in Kenedy Gunshot Death
Gustav Ernest Tieken aged 23 died Saturday morning March 2 1940 in a Kenedy hospital from a gunshot wound. Funeral services were held at 2 30 p m Sunday at Murray Funeral Home Floresville with Rev Theodor Winter of First Lutheran Church of Floresville presiding. Interment followed at Floresville Cemetery. Pallbearers included Paul Wehmann Harry Zunker Walton Pfeil Wesley Fertsch Frank Boll Jr and Alvin Boening. He was born January 31 1917 in Wilson County and confirmed in First Lutheran Church of Floresville on Palm Sunday March 20 1932. He is survived by his mother Mrs Fritz Tieken.
