Wilson County Red Cross Chapter sent its fourth box of supplies Monday from the new city hall work room. The busy sewing room buzzed as volunteers gathered each afternoon for production. The drive urged broader participation to fully equip the troops, with items including pajamas, bed shirts, bandaged foot socks, hot water bag covers, towels, wash cloths, sheets, and pillow cases.

Field Marshal Ellis of the State Council of Defense addressed a large Floresville audience at the opera house on Thursday night. The speech urged united action and duty for the defense council, praising Americanism and the obligation to support the national cause. Senator W. O. delivered a fitting compliment and Judge Ellis’s address, echoed by Hon. King for the Red Cross, drew praise.

Aged Confederate veteran Robert Bishop died at his Stockdale home Thursday night at 11. Survived by wife and six children Ellisa Bishop of Smiley John Bishop of Pleasanton Henry Bishop of Cuero David and Milton Bishop of Stockdale and Mrs. E H Salmon of Stockdale two half sisters Mollie Estes of Cuero Sallie McMurray of Gillett and half brother W M Strickland of Denison. Interment with Masonic honors in Stockdale Cemetery after funeral at the Baptist Church Friday afternoon.
William W. Sanderfur aged 79 died at his home in Uvalde on Friday afternoon at 5 oclock. He was a native of Indiana and had lived in Uvalde seven years. Survived by two sons G. W. and R. Janderfur of San Antonio and daughters Mrs. O. House cone Ezell and Mis. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Saturday mates San Antonio Express.
