District volleyball meet crowns four division winners
Floresville led senior girls to a championship after beating Smiley and Poth and Sutherland Springs in the finals at Poth. Sutherland Springs captured senior boys by defeating Nixon Stockdale and Floresville. Floresville junior A topped Nixon and Stockdale to win the junior boys title while Lodi claimed the junior girls crown by edging Poth. Large crowd enjoyed favorable weather and a P.T.A. food operation supported the event. Next events include a Senior and Junior Boys Track Meet at Stockdale on April 5 and a playground ball meet at Floresville on April 26.

Rev Paine Dies At Luling After Stroke At 77
Reverend Robert Paine, 77, retired Methodist minister who served in the West Texas Conference at Floresville and other charges, died Tuesday at his Luling home following a stroke. Funeral held Wednesday. Survived by wife Mattie Polley, daughter Peggy Paine Tom, two sons Julius and Joseph, another son killed in World War. Floresville friends mourn his loss.
