Koloiziej takes fourth place at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. Ramble officials with Les Lopes of Lone Star Brewing Company discuss sponsorship to support 4-H and FFA members. Lone Star funds 140 scholarships to encourage future education in agriculture.
Parents and Junior Girl Scouts of Poth plan a community program to combat alcohol and drug abuse among youth. Mother-daughter teams will organize meetings, arrange speakers, print letters and flyers, and handle preparations for an effective awareness drive.
Matt L. Robinson, named a game warden cadet, is profiled as the son of a local conservation official. The brief notes his family background and upcoming training milestones within the state wildlife program.
Hospital administrator H C Bramlow thanked volunteers after last Thursday’s Blood Bank drew 34 pints from about 38 donors, with 4 turned away for minor health issues. He urged more donations to reach 75 to 80 donors every eight weeks and announced the next drive at Flores school, tied to a spring blood drive.
At 3 30 p m the Wilson County Library hosts a varied program including Georgie Night Out With Mr Toad Norman the Doorman When Magoo Flew and The Man Who Hated Laughter. Everyone is invited.
The Selma Adelman Award honored Dr. J.C. Brumlow at a La Mansion del Rio dinner in San Antonio on January 26, 1982. Brumlow, administrator of Wilson County Blood Bank for 14 years, donated nearly 200 pints and helped start the Wilson County Blood Bank in 1966. His family and local groups backed the drive, with the bank now reporting thousands of pints collected.
On February 27 Flores High School band members competed in the Interscholastic League Solo and Ensemble contest. State qualifiers include Donald qualifier James Eppers trumpet solo II Ann Eschenburg trumpet solo AI and Carol Tokar flute solo I.
The SPIST 107 lodge holds a regular meeting on Sunday March 7 1982. Youth club gathers at 3 00 PM to begin YAD projects while the adult lodge meets at 5 00 PM followed by a social. A meeting is planned for Sunday March 28 in New Braunfels. All youth and adult members are urged to attend. Leri Hrna, Reporter
