Large crowds attended the Hermann Sons Pappelbaum Lodge 272 and Nelken Lodge 146 gathering in Poth for the annual barbecue. Dr William Oxford a Floresville resident has been commissioned a First Lieutenant in the U S Army Dental Corps and assigned to Camp Bowie Brownwood Texas He left for duty after closing his Floresville office He has been active in the Junior Chamber of Commerce and served as Alderman of Floresville prior to resignation His wife and two sons plan to join him later if possible and Floresville friends wish him success in service to the country.

Draft Of Married Men Is Postponed

Corpus Christi draft officials yesterday received orders from Austin to postpone temporarily induction of all registrants who married prior to December 8 1941 provided they have wives or children or wives and children with whom they maintain a bona fide family relationship in their homes. A telegram from Brig Gen J Watt Page State Director of Selective Service said boards are directed to postpone induction due to impending legislation and pending new regulations. The measure will require much extra work for boards as they had prepared to send out many married men this weekend.
