Robert Alexander Lackey, a Wilson County long-time resident born May 12 1860 in Karnes County, died in San Antonio on June 11 1939 at 815 pm. Funeral services were held June 12 at Murray Funeral Home with rites at Sacred Heart Church Rev Fred Drees officiating. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Pallbearers included I D Flores R J Schroller Paul E Schmidt J G Youngblood D W Marshall and M M Hughes. Lackey was married in 1887 and lived in Wilson County for decades, noted as a healthful, upright, generous man.

Old Age Assistance Plan Delayed Pending Attorney General Opinion
AUSTIN June 14. Old Age Assistance Director Little said no investigations would be conducted under the liberalized act until the Attorney General's Department issues an ruling to guide policies. Training for investigators will follow, likely in one to ten days after action. About 30 000 registrations exist statewide and the lengthy process will delay certifying recipients for pro rata monthly funds. A new plan will be submitted to the Social Security Board in Washington for final approval or disapproval.

Youths End San Antonio River Trip In Shipwreck

Two Days Rodeo At Wilson County Fair Grounds Floresville

Mrs. Lee McDaniel Named Floresville Postmaster
Mrs. Lee McDaniel was officially appointed postmaster of Floresville with a May 17 start date and will assume charge July 15 1939.
