Benjamin Novak Shows Grand Champion 4-H Vegetable

Floresville 4-H displays a uniform okra grand champion as Benjamin Novak earns top honors for vegetables over three years. Yvonne Dziuk Sacred Heart 4-H takes Reserve Champion with bright red tomatoes. Results list multiple divisions with participants from Floresville La Vernia Fairview and Sacred Heart 4-H groups, including cucumbers beans peas and squash awards.

Wright Marker Dedication at Floresville on Saturday

A red granite border marker honoring Captain Will L. Wright will be unveiled at Floresville Courthouse Square on Saturday June 17 at 2:00 p.m. The ceremony features Wilson County Historical Survey Committee officials, Governor John Connally, Col Homer A. on Jr., and Wright family members. Trail Riders in regalia will parade and refreshments follow in the courthouse rotunda.

Lt Col Richardson Receives Army Commendation Medal

Lt Col Thomas O Richardson, son of Mr and Mrs T M Richardson of Floresville Texas, is shown receiving the Army Commendation Medal at Fort Sam Houston in May 1949. He served with the 2nd Civil Affairs Detachment Fort Clayton Canal Zone 1964 to 1966 and is an instructor at the Medical Field Service School. He entered the Army in 1943 and is a 1948 grad of Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University. His wife Catherine accompanies him at the fort.

Connally to Be Parade Marshals at Stockdale Watermelon Jubilee

Senator and Mrs Wayne Connally will ride as parade marshals for Stockdale’s Watermelon Jubilee on Saturday June 24 at 10 am. Attending officials include District Attorney Taylor Brite District Judge John F May reps W S Pickett and John A Traeger with La Vernia and Wilson County officials. The queen will be revealed to Chamber of Commerce members June 13 while crown night is June 22.

Poth Community Feast Slated For Sunday June 18

The Poth Community Feast will be held at Hermann Sons Hall in Poth this Sunday June 18. Grounds open at 3:00 p.m. and barbecue sausage supper starts at 4:00 p.m. A big dance runs 8:00 p.m. to midnight with games and refreshments throughout the day and night. Proceeds aid Youth Organizations of the Poth community.

I D Flores, IIT, son of Mr and Mrs I D Flores Jr, is to receive a Master of Business Administration at Harvard University June 15 1967 in Cambridge Massachusetts. He will begin as a Research Assistant to Harvard University in September. He studied International Economics and Investments and earned Distinction Honors for his thesis on Management Information Systems. He also worked as a consultant to Aerosol Techniques Inc and led Harvard’s Business Assistance Program. He earned his Bachelor's with honors from the University of Notre Dame in 1965.

Order of the Eastern Star installs officers in Floresville

Floresville Chapter No. 271 of the Order of the Eastern Star held a June 8 1967 installation at the Masonic Hall with Worthy Matron Mrs Curtis Ray and Worthy Patron Mr Ray, Associate Matron Mrs Charlie Fuller and Associate Patron. The ceremony featured candle lighting, Bible presentment, and a formal passing of leadership from 1966 67 officers to the new slate amid music, tributes, and a reception.
