Homecoming Honoring Texas Eastern Star Leader Held in Floresville

Four Wilson County chapters Lavernia Pandora Stockdale and members of the Order of the Eastern Star hosted a homecoming on Monday June 10 at the Floresville hall. Worthy Grand Matron Mrs Mattie Murray Mitchell of San Antonio was the honoree in a yellow and white decorated event uniting past members and invited guests.

Completion of Relief Roll Examination Across Counties

Miss Mary Harrington of Seguin Guadalupe county and Bailey Thomas of Dallas along with Kermit Schlamons of New Braunfels and Hugh Williamson of San Marcos acted as case supervisors for the Wilson County Relief Office. They conducted a three week examination in Floresville ending last Saturday and proceeded to Karnes county.

First Carload Watermelons Shipped From Floresville

The first carload of watermelons from Wilson county, grown by Bob Stevens near Floresville, variety Dale, averaged 27 pounds and sold for 95 dollars to Malcolm Mills bound for Kansas City. Rain and road conditions delay shipments. bulk shipping to begin when weather allows.

Sokol Meet Draws Big Crowd at Corpus Christi

At Corpus Christi last Sunday the Sokol meet featured units from Corpus Christi Junction and Floresville competing in athletic contests. Medals went to high winners Jerry Pavliska John Huna Mary Svoboda Mrs Pete Roemer Mrs Joseph Bayer and Raymond Tkac. A sausage dinner followed before a public exhibition at 2 pm and a district from Dallas Taylor Houston attended. Anton and Mary Svoboda plan to travel to Cleveland Ohio for the American Sokol Festival on June 23 with four weeks of training after.

Mrs Clyde Adams Died At Her Floresville Home

Mary Ruth Adams aged 2 years 9 months 30 days died at the home of W F Adams in Floresville on Friday June 7 1935 at 8 40 am after a three week pneumonia illness She is survived by Clyde Adams her husband two children and her mother Emma Bowie Funeral services were at Floresville Baptist Church with Rev J T Howard burial in Floresville cemetery She was born August 8 1902 on the Cibolo near Stockdale and was a member of the church since girlhood

Burglars Enter Wm. Smith Home Here Friday Night Of Last Week

Burglars entered the Wm. Smith home in this city Friday night and stole a wrist watch, a graduation gift for Wm. Smith Jr. The family was away. the intruder fled as residents returned. Women of the County Two Day Program at Sutherland Lords Farm

Eoecepacal A at Sutherland Lords Farm hosts a county women event in mid July with eleven clubs taking part. Prizes are offered for best canned goods display and best dress models. A large crowd is expected for July 16 and 17.

New Vocational Teacher Leon Kreidel Joins Floresville High

Speakers From A and M College Extension Service announce Leon Kreidel, newly elected vocational agriculture teacher at Floresville High School, moving to town with his family. He is a Kingsville A and I College graduate who arrived Friday with household effects and has rented the former County Agent Beck home. His wife and child are visiting near Taylor and will join him soon as the family begins their duties.

Wilson County Court Concludes June Session

Commissioners court in Wilson County meets at the courthouse in Fiores ville with full attendance. They resolve to employ Art 794 to put misdemeanor prisoners to work on the county farm or workhouse to discharge fines. The Wilson County Home Demonstration Council sponsors a July encampment at Sutherland Springs for club women with canning exhibits, dress shows, and prizes, featuring judges from A&M and local agents.
