The 1983 Arts and Crafts May Fair concluded with strong turnout and good sales despite hard times. Winners in the professional and non professional divisions include Celia Shadrock, Chris Connell, Amelia Bench, Arlene Wilkerson, Ted Kelly, and Amy Ammann among others, with multiple Firsts and Secondes across watercolors, ceramics, oil, and open crafts.
Floresville celebrates the official opening of its City Park swimming pool on Hwy 97 West near the San Antonio River bridge. Mayor Carl Eschenburg welcomed attendees while City Manager Everett Taylor spoke on the new facility, which operates daily except Mondays.
Barber family members and relatives gather for a reunion on the fifth at Allpena. Attendees include Jane and other Barbers with Caletes Middle hosting arrangements and local organizers coordinating the event.

Eighth graders Lisath Moore Laurie Gramelek gen grade and Cheryl Head Twirler, daughter of Benedictine, along with Louise Jung were named as potential 1983-84 twirlers. The girls practiced for judging and planned summer pony activities at Cub boat ball games.
The Polunda Bo hunk Polka Band will perform as a featured entertainment event on Saturday June 4 at the Sixth Annual Texas Sea Fest program. The Tom Country Scaffolders of SCXas are also listed among the acts.
