Holli, a Floresville High School student and yearbook staffer, is the Peanut Festival Princess Elect. She belongs to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and works at Pizza Hut while planning college in advertising. Her family supports her as the Peanut Festival legacy continues.
Prince-Elect Benito B J Marroquin Jr represents the Floresville Peanut Festival Association in the Court of Enchanted Peanut Harvest. The 18 year old Calaveras native and Floresville High senior plans join the U S Armed Forces after graduation and study engineering. He is named to Who's Who Among American High School Students for 1998 and has played football baseball and basketball.
President Clinton signed a 1.9 billion agriculture bill on June 23 to boost research with 600 million over five years in biotechnology and food safety, 100 million for rural development, full five year crop insurance funding, 470 million for agents and insurers, and 818 million over five years to restore food stamps, per TSCRA News Update.

El Jarocho Mexican and Seafood Restaurant No 2 at 1011 Third Street Floresville held its grand opening on Friday July 24 1998. Owners Tammy Gonzalez and Jose Ramirez also run El Jarocho No 1 in San Antonio. Tammy handles cooking and invites locals to try the new spot open Monday through Saturday 6 AM to 3 PM and Sunday 6 AM to 1 PM.
Rick Perry tours South Texas on Friday July 31 promoting safer streets top schools and economic opportunity. He visits Promised Land Dairy Restaurant on Highway 97 in Floresville at 9 25 a m to deliver his message to local residents and supporters.
San Antonio Missions National Historical Park cancels the August 1 tour of the Spanish Colonial Ranch near Floresville due to extreme dry conditions and high fire danger. A ranger lecture will replace the on-site visit at Floresville River Park at 10 00 a.m. Tours resume only when safe, with future dates and a contact number provided.
