Elaine Kolodziej and Janie Martinez announce George Strake will visit Wilson County on Tuesday July 27. He will attend a 6:00 p.m. coffee at Sacred Heart Parish Hall in Floresville as part of a one day tour with stops in Pleasanton George West Beeville and San Antonio. Strake 47 a former Texas Secretary of State challenges Lt Governor Hobby for the states second highest office. He is an independent oil operator from Houston and served in the navy after Notre Dame graduation this 1957. He and his wife Annete have six children.

He studied at Bloomington Illinois 1972-76 and Southern Illinois University Medical School Springfield 1976-79. Residency in Corpus Christi Texas 1979-82. He then earned board certification.

Vernor E. Bippert, Wilson County Extension agent for 18 years, earns the NACAA top honor. He built a 26 year career with notable peanut program results and 4-H livestock growth, while guiding county beef groups and landowners on oil leases and estate planning. Judy Lynn Janek is chosen Princess to Queen Tunnep XXXVIII by the Floresville Peanut Festival Association. She will serve in The Court of Southern Traditions and will be escorted by Russ Bart Ray, son of Curtis Ray. Judy, daughter of Felix and the late family, hails from Floresville with ties to Seguin and a life in peanut farming communities.

Russ Bart Ray, a Floresville resident and First Baptist Church member, is named a Prince in the 1982 Floresville Peanut Festival. He played high school track and football earning All District Second Team honors in 1961 and follows a family line of Peanut Festival honorees.
