Five Lions Hear About Torres Football Club
Last Thursday noon two representatives of the Torres Football Club of San Antonio spoke to the Lions Club. Michael Kaliski outlined the club and season policies while Coach Pyans, formerly of the University of Arkansas, described expectations for the coming season. All games will be at Alamo Stadium with Saturday 5 p.m. starts and Sunday 2 p.m. starts. out of town games will be televised to San Antonio. President Richard Boll led the meeting and noted the X-ray Mobile TB unit would visit Floresville on July 27 near the court house.

Denny Roberts Dies After Rent Dispute Attack
In Wilson County, Denny Roberts died in Memorial Hospital after an argument with neighbor Zack Mills over rent. Mills attacked with a hoe handle around 7 p.m. Monday July 15, with initial charges of assault then murder with malice aforethought. Bond set at 3500, case to Grand Jury in October.

Wilson County 4-H Horse Club members excel at District 10 Horse Show in Jaycee Park Luling on July 13. In halter and performance events of 87 entries Ricky Cox finished seventh and Chris Reed eleventh. barrel race had 50 entries with Reed fourth and Cox eighth in stake race from 41 entries.
