Elmendorf Texas expects a crowd of several thousand for the July 18 festival featuring barbeque chicken served in air conditioned comfort. Vendors include Mrs Markovsky and Mrs Martinez with baked goods nachos and fish kebabs. Entertainment runs afternoon with a Spanish band 1 to 4 and a country western act after the auction plus free dancing on the pavilion.

Son County 4-Hers Win Big At Lockhart Steer Show
Nine Wilson County 4-H members traveled to Lockhart July 2 and 3 for the Fireworks Prospect Steer show. Julie Pfeil led with first in heavy weight Polled Hereford and second in heavy weight Angus. her Angus was Reserve Grand Champion. Andrew Matheaus took second in heavy weight market steer. Lyndra Kolodziej third with light weight Angus. Paul Jarzombek fourth in light weight Santa Gertrudis. Dwayne Kolodziej fourth in medium weight. Steve Heritage tenth in heavy Chianina. Jason Heritage seventh light weight. Sharon Rippert seventh in heavyweight Charolais. The group aims to sustain wins through the season.
