A Tuesday July 3 fire in Kosciusko destroyed the Mrs Annie Jaskina and Steve Macatuso family home after responders faced water shortages. Mrs Jaskina and three granddaughters escaped safely. A benefit shower is planned July 15 at Kosciusko Church Hall from 2 to 4 PM and a Fire Fund is set up at Security.
The Town Band invites all to a Saturday festival at Pecan Park Floresville starting 2 30 pm with performances by The Village Band of Floresville The New Braunfels Village Brass Band The Devine Community Band The Comal County Community Band and The San Antonio Municipal Band Refreshments will be on the grounds Dr Kenneth Muckelroy will judge the bands with a dinner concert to follow and support from State Bank.
Federal warrants executed on three Wilson County residences near Stockdale and Floresville led to two arrests, a 34-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man. Officers recovered small quantities of methamphetamines, marijuana, and crack, with the sites indicating possible lab equipment removed or dispersed. Suspects held at federal facilities in San Antonio.
The 1980 Floresville High School graduating class will host a reunion Saturday. Details are sparse in the notice, but the event aims to gather former classmates for a day of reflection and socializing.
Nicole Pruski, 17, a Floresville High senior, is named Floresville Peanut Festival Queen Elect celebrating 25 years since her mother Margie was Queen Turnep. She competes in 4-H, UIL, and scholarship awards while active in community service and plans to represent Floresville at Citizenship Washington Focus.
